- Sibyl Trelawney is a bit of a fraud. She doesn't have daily visions.
- She's a Pureblood, who can trace her line to Rowena Ravenclaw.
- She was sorted into Hufflepuff.
- Before coming to work at Hogwarts she made her living as a Muggle psychic in London.
Things Only Dumbledore Would Know (And maybe Harry Potter. And Voldemort eventually.)
- Sibyl is a rather functional Seer. She has made two prophecies in her life, and can interpret the basic signs rather adeptly. She's always been rather insecure in her abilities so she's made it a point to learn the science of her craft very well. This goes double for the time period folling the Umbridge debacle. She wants to make it very clear that she knows her stuff.
- As a Pureblood she was always rather ashamed of being a Hufflepuff. She was offered the position of Head of House once but turned it down, wishing to downplay her ties to Hufflepuff. She masks this by pretending to be uninterested in House politics.
- As a Muggle psychic, Sibyl failed. Horribly.
Things only Sibyl Knows
- She was very worried she was a squib in her younger years. She got her Hogwarts letter the day after she her Aunt's cat Fluffykins died. She had predicted it's death a week prior. Fluffykins was not a magical cat and he was 25 years old. Sibyl took this as a Sign that she was a Seer.
- Finished 18th in her year in Divination.
- Was obscenely jealous of the Slytherins and Gryffindors alike, especially Sirius Black and Lucius Malfoy.
- Sticks with Dumbledore because he recognizes her for what she feels are her talents. If someone else were to better recognize these she would stick by them in a second.
- Predicts gloom and doom for anyone who upsets her. Wrote out countless Astrological readings for Umbridge ending in her being eaten by the Giant Squid. Or a Hippogriff. Or a Giant. Or doxies. Or anything, really.
- Has a mole on her left arm that she thinks looks like a Crystal Ball. She takes this as yet another Sign.
- Actually spends all the time she hides in her Tower brushing up on Divination facts so that she can prove she knows her subject.
- Is only really related to the famous Cassandra Trelawney by marriage.
